Country of Curaçao a Lesser Antilles Island in the southern Caribbean Sea and the Dutch Caribbean region, about 65 km north of the Venezuela coast. It is a constituent country of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Together with Aruba and Bonaire, it forms the ABC islands.
Curaçao was formerly part of the Curacao and Dependencies colony from 1815 to 1954 and later the Netherlands Antilles from 1954 to 2010, as Island Territory of Curaçao and is now formally called the Country of Curaçao. Its capital is Willemstad.
We visited the island in December 2022.
The Kas di Pal’i Maishi was built 130 years ago, and it gives a good insight of how Curaçaoans (locals) used to live. This cottage is one of the protected ‘slaves house or Kas di kunuku’ of Curaçao. Several ‘kunuku houses’ have been restored by the charity Stichting Monumentenzorg. Some people have inherited kunuku houses and they are now often used as a garden shed.

You can see how people lived in Curaçao until 1950. You will get a clear picture of how the slaves used to live in Curaçao and how the generations thereafter have taken over the African culture. In the museum you can see many objects used by the Curaçaoans.
Quite interesting.

Years ago, the environmental group Amigu di Tera arranged excursions in this area along seven bays. Hence, the name is taken, although there are more than seven coves in this national park.
The park begins at the beautiful Boka Tabla where large, unpredictable waves crush against an underground cave.
Quite stunning views.

Rock art sites are abundant and represent a rare aspect of Amerindian heritage preserved in their original context.

On Aruba, a paint sample from one site yields a transitional date of A.D. 1000, marking the shift from Late Archaic to Early Ceramic periods. Although some Archaic pictographs are present on Aruba, the majority were likely created during the Ceramic Period. The rock paintings were created and utilized by ancient communities for ceremonial and religious purposes. Aruba’s current rock art collection comprises 300 to 350 individual representations spread across 22 sites, five of the 22 sites occur in the northeastern coast limestone caves.
